Miss Gemma
Gemma Griffiths is a highly regarded dance teacher with experience of teaching
at all levels with children from 2yrs to 16yrs of age. Her successes include
choreographing many festival dances, gaining Associate qualification in Ballet,
Tap Modern and Theatre craft, receiving 7 nominations for IDTA scholarships
and achieving 100% pass rate for all her dance classes at all levels over
the past 7yrs. Miss Gemma also choreographs for several local societies including
Melbourne Operatic Soiety, Long Eaton Operatic Society, and Erewash Musical
Society, of which Miss Gemma is a member regularly performing in musicals.
Having enjoyed dancing herself since the age of 4yrs Gemma is keen to use
her experiences of this and other work with young people; including volunteer
work in education and counselling – to create lessons that children
will find fun and challenging. She says “ I aim for all students to
love the art of dance no matter their age or level.”
Miss Alex
Alexandra Tavener – known to her pupils as Miss Alex, has danced since
she was 3 years of age. Throughout both childhood and later during a successful
career in nursing. Alexandra has performed on stage, winning awards and commendations
in Ballet and Ballroom. She has danced, acted and sung for a number of local
theatrical societies starting with Nottingham Junior Operatic at the age of
14. Since the birth of her two children, Alexandra has combined motherhood
with stage appearances, choreographing musicals, singing professionally and
teaching dance and theatre-craft. Never one to stand still Miss Alex actively
pursues teaching excellence and further accredited qualifications with the
IDTA. Miss Alex is highly regarded Associate teacher of dance working with
pupils from 2 years of age up to 16 year olds in several local schools and
nurseries. She says “Dancing has always been special for me, I want
to give others the chance to share this feeling of enjoyment.”
